Medipren

Medipren review

Medipren belongs to a type of medication called non-steroidal and non-inflammatory drugs. Medipren is used for the treatment of mild pain, inflammation, and fever. Medipren blocks the release of chemicals referred to as prostaglandins in the body which is the main reason why a person experiences fever, pain and inflammation.

Medipren is specifically used for conditions like headache, back pain, toothache, arthritis, and menstrual cramps.

The maximum amount of Medipren that an adult can take is 800 milligrams per dose and 3200 milligrams a day. An overdose of Medipren can result to damage of a person’s intestines or stomach. The smallest amount of Medipren is enough to lessen pain, fever, and swelling. Medipren should be taken with food to lessen the chances of stomach upset. A chewable Medipren should be chewed before the user swallows it.

If a person takes Medipren for an extended period, a doctor might have to check on the patient to make sure that the drug is not causing any harmful effects on the patient.

In case the patient misses a dosage, take the next dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Never take 2 doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose.

Overdosage of Medipren can result in symptoms such as drowsiness, upset stomach, coughing up of blood, difficulty in breathing, coma, and fainting.

Before taking Medipren, a patient should inform his or her doctor allergy to any type of drugs. Also, those who are suffering from the following conditions should be cautious in taking this drug- heart disease, stroke, heart failure, asthma, history of stomach bleeding, liver and kidney disease, blood clotting disorder, and polyps in the nose.

Like most drugs, Medipren can cause side effects to its patients, although the chances are not that high. Some of the more common side effects of Medipren include swelling of the face, throat, and lips, difficulty in breathing, and hives.

Patients should stop taking Medipren in case they experience more serious side effects such as slurred speech, shortness of breath, black and bloody stool, rapid gain in weight, frequent or infrequent urination, nausea, low fever, lack of appetite, dark urine, fever, headache with serious blistering, bruising, weakening of the muscles, stiffness of the neck, increased sensitivity to light, and seizure.

It is important that patients who experience any of these conditions while taking Medipren consult their doctors immediately. Other side effects not listed here may likewise occur while taking Medipren.

Some drugs may interact negatively with Medipren. Patients should tell their health care provider if they are taking medicines that can interact with Medipren such as anticoagulants like aspirin, heparin, corticosteroid, and serotonin reuptake inhibitors since the risk of bleeding in the stomach may increase.

Medipren may also interact with Probenecid and increase the chances of a user experiencing side effects mentioned earlier. This drug can also interact with ACE or angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors like enalapril and diuretics such as furosemide and hydrochlorothiazide since the effectiveness of these medications may decrease with use of Medipren.
