Furoxone is a drug used for the purpose of treating health diseases such as diarrhea due to bacteria. It is also an effective medicine for treatment of typhoid fever, traveler’s diarrhea, salmonella infections and cholera.
Furoxone is in a form of tablet which can be taken orally. Recommended dosage is four times per day with even intervals to achieve best results. This can be administered without food but if stomach upset is experienced, it would be necessary to have your meals first before taking the medicine. Properly scheduled intake of the medicine will allow it to constantly flow in your blood for speedy effect. It would be best to complete the prescribed period of medication so as to totally eliminate the disease. Discontinuing the medication before the prescribed period will lead to re-infection resulting to a longer period of medication.

Furoxone should not in any way taken with other medicines which can result to serious health complications. Some of the medicines which should not be taken together with Furoxone include Bupropion, Apraclonidine, Buspirone, Brimonidine, Carbamazepine, Entacapone, herbal products, Indoramin, Papaverine, SSRI antidepressants, Tolcapone, Doxepin and other drugs. Inform your doctor in case you are on medication with these medicines.
Also inform your doctor if your diet if you are eating food which contains tyramine because this will lead to increased blood pressure, headache and can cause serious health condition when taken together with Furoxone.
Some of the food that can contain tyramine includes fish, meat, processed food, beverages, fruits and vegetables. If possible, list down the food that you eat so your doctors can advice accordingly.
Furoxone has some common side effects such as vomiting, headache, nausea, weakness and stomach upset. These side effects are caused due to the adjustment of the body with the medicine.
It can also cause dark coloring of the urine but this is just normal and you need not to worry. In the case that any other changes with your body or health not mentioned here, you should immediately visit your doctor.
