Fluocinonide is a prescribed drug for treating several skin diseases. This drug can also be used in treating yeast infections and fungus. This drug may come in a form of cream, ointment, gel, and other solutions.

Fluocinonide is being distributed under the brand names Lonide, Lidex, Lidex-E, and Fluonex. Fluocinonide is applied to the skin of people who are suffering from skin disorders. It helps reduce the discomforting effects of skin diseases such as scaling, redness, itching, dryness, and inflammation.

This medication is also used for other dermatology purposes.

Use this medication according to the prescription label included in the package or according to the doctor’s prescription. Before applying this medication, you must first wash and dry the affected area. Apply a small amount of the medicine to your fingers and apply gently to the skin area. Do not cover the skin being treated with bandages unless advised by the doctor.

After application avoid rubbing the medicine until it is thoroughly dry. Also avoid contact to eyes.

Do not over use the product because it may cause serious skin irritation.

Some people who have been using Fluocinonide for medication have experienced less serious side effects such as skin redness, itching, swelling, and burning sensation at the area of the skin being treated.

Others who are allergic to this medication may experience more serious side effects. Symptoms of allergic reaction to the medication include chest pain, difficulty in breathing, fever, severe rashes, burning of the skin, and swelling of the lips, tongue or face. These allergic reactions can be very fatal to some people. If any of these side effects occur, you must seek for medical attention immediately.

To prevent serious allergic reactions, you must inform your doctor if you are allergic to Fluocinonide or other drugs before undergoing treatment. If you have any history of viral skin infection and fungal, you must avoid using this drug or seek advice from a doctor.

Pregnant women and nursing mothers should also consult a doctor prior to medication. Consultation should also be done if you have plans to get pregnant.

This medication is prescribed by the doctor to cure specific skin diseases. Therefore, this medication should not be shared by others without consulting a doctor.

Provide a list of all prescribed and non-prescribed drug you are using to your doctor in order to determine if there are any drugs that may interact with Fluocinonide. This is to avoid any unwanted effects caused by interaction. Aside from that, tell your doctor if you have other medical condition such as glaucoma, immune disorder, diabetes, cataract, and any other disease that may affect the treatment.
