Constan

Constan review

Constan, also known by the brand names of Niravam, Xanor, and Xanax, is a benzodiazepine-class, short-acting medicament used to manage moderate to severe panic attacks and anxiety disorders. It is also used as an auxiliary treatment for anxiety caused by moderate depression. It's available in both generic form and extended release form (Xanax XR). In America, this medicament is a schedule IV controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act.

Patients that suffer from severe anxiety disorders, panic attacks, and even those with anxiety produced by moderate depression may use this medicament. Patients should be duly warned that this medicament is habit-forming, so long-term use and/or abuse may cause you to develop a physical dependence on Constan, which includes withdrawal reactions during rapid or abrupt halting of treatment. This medicament also has muscle-relaxant/sedative/anticonvulsant/hypnotic/anxiolytic properties.

Constan is taken orally as instructed by your physician, with based on your response to treatment and medical condition. You should use the dropper included with the product to cautiously measure the dose and mix it in soft food or liquid (water, applesauce, pudding) just before taking it.

As noted earlier, this medicament is highly addictive, especially when used for a long period or in high doses. If you stop using this medicament after you've become dependent on it, withdrawal reactions like seizures may occur. Report any such symptoms to your doctor as soon as you possibly can.

Common side effects of Constan include dizziness and drowsiness. If any of these symptoms continue or worsen, contact your pharmacist or healthcare specialist immediately. Avoid working with heavy machinery or driving while taking this medicament. Also inform your doctor promptly in the event the following rare but serious side effects occur: sleep disturbances, micturition difficulties, walking difficulties, decreased or increased interest in sex, clumsiness, slurred speech, and mood swings.

Consult with your doctor in the event any of these extremely rare but exceptionally serious side effects occur: persistent sore throat, fever, signs of infection, dark urine, yellowing of your eyes or skin (jaundice), lethargy, persistent wamble or vomiting, and stomach or abdominal pain.

Be wary of symptoms indicating an acute allergic reaction to the medicament like breathing difficulties, severe dizziness, swelling, itching, and rash even though such occurrences are mostly unlikely. Contact your doctor or pharmacist and seek immediate medical care if any of the above mentioned symptoms arise.

Before taking this medicament, inform your pharmacist or doctor if you're allergic to it or any other benzodiazepines like lorazepam and diazepam. You should then inform him if you have any other allergies as well. From there, report your medical history to him, especially of severe lung or breathing problems like COPD and sleep apnea, kidney illness, liver illness, and drug or alcohol abuse. You must also limit your alcohol intake while undergoing Constan therapy.

When stopping long-term and regular treatment with Constan, gradually reduce your dose as directed by your doctor in order to avoid any severe withdrawal reactions. You should maintain contact with you doctor during this period. The chances of a patient developing medicament-seeking behavior after stopping therapy are rare but serious. You should seek prompt medical attention in case that side effect occurs.

This medicament has been proven to pass into breast milk, so you must not under any circumstances breastfeed while taking this medicament. Furthermore, this medicament should not be used during pregnancy as well because of the potential harm it could cause to your unborn child. Consult your healthcare specialist for further information.
