Ciclovulan, which is marketed under the brand Aygestin and many other trade names, is a medication that can be used to prevent pregnancy when taken in small amounts. This drug is also used for examinations to find out if the body is creating certain female hormones—natural substances that affect the uterus—in a healthy and regulated manner. It is under the progestin-class of medicine and works by causing the uterus to produce certain hormones that prevent conception and hampering the growth of the uterus's lining.
Aside from its aforementioned birth control capabilities, Ciclovulan can also be used by women suffering from amenorrhea or lack of menstrual flow, endometriosis or an agonizing sickness wherein the anomalous lining of the uterus causes its bearer immense pain, and abnormal uterine bleeding. This drug can be further employed to treat certain types of cancer as well.
Ciclovulan should be administered just after a meal or anytime with food intake to prevent getting an upset stomach. It must be taken as prescribed by your doctor; ergo, he's the one responsible for deciding your drug dosage in lieu of a recommended daily dosage. Its typical dosing period ranges from five to thirteen days during the tail end of your menstrual cycle.

Don't smoke cigarettes when under Ciclovulan treatment, and tell your doctor if you're going into surgery, including dental surgery, before taking this medicine. Keep in mind that this drug can increase your risk for liver tumors, vision problems, gallbladder disease, heart attacks, high blood pressure, blood clots, and strokes. Because it can potentially harm the fetus, Ciclovulan must not be taken by expecting mothers, particularly during the first four months of pregnancy.
