Chlordiazepoxide is a prescribed drug used to treat persons who are distressed due to alcohol withdrawals, depression and anxiety. The drug is also used to relieve fear from patients before undergoing surgery. It works through the brain and nerves of the body and produces a calming effect.
Chlordiazepoxide is classified as a sedative or hypnotic drug being distributed under the brand names Tropium, Novapam and Librium.
