Amevive review

Amevive is an immune suppressive medication that can control the inflammation due to severe psoriasis. Clinical studies are being conducted to determine if it can effectively treat T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma.
Amevive is a medication distributed under the generic name Alefacept that is marketed in countries like Australia, Canada, United States, Switzerland and Israel. It is a medication that is injected to patients suffering from psoriasis. It works in suppressing the immune system.
The most common dosage given to a patient is 7.5mg IV weekly for a period of twelve weeks. A 15mg IM can also be used for the same period. This standard dosage is closely monitored by the physician to ensure that treatment is progressing for the patient.
There are common side effects associated with using Amevive. Some of these side effects include dizziness, itching, cough, nausea, sore throat, muscle pain, redness and swelling of the skin where the medication was injected.
There are also more serious side effects that can be fatal to the patient. This includes cancer, allergies, difficulty breathing, rashes, infections and the decrease on the normal count of the immune cells.
If any of the side effects occur, you must immediately seek medical help. This is very important so as to prevent any harmful effect that can be experienced by the patient.
Certain precautions should be observed before using this medication. Never administer the medication without consulting a doctor. Also inform your doctor if you have any other medical problems such as infections, immune system problem, and history of cancer, heart problems, lung disorders and other illnesses.
Avoid having any vaccines without consulting your doctor and keep away from people who have just taken their anti polio vaccine orally. It is also advised not to engage in any extreme activity or even driving because the medication can make you dizzy and affect your coordination. Never take medications with similar effect as Alefaceft because it will greatly affect the normal function of the immune system.
You must follow the prescribed dosage and avoid changing the routine without consulting with your doctor.
If you are administering the medication by yourself, avoid injecting the medication in skin that is swollen or injured. Clean the skin thoroughly where the medication will be injected to avoid any infections. Also, store the medication in a safe place away from children’s reach.
Do not use the medication more than is prescribed to avoid any fatal effect of overdose. In the case of overdose, report immediately to a medical professional. Overdose may show symptoms such as joint pain, chills and headaches.
Since the doctor prescribes this medication, you must never share it with anyone else even if you have the same illness. The dosage and medication may have adverse effect on some patients. It is only safe to use the medication if advised by a doctor.
Pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding should consult a doctor prior to taking the medication. Though there are no clinical studies that show this medication may cause harm to the baby, it is still the best recourse to seek medical advice.
