In the center of the bony labyrinth the vestibule is positioned, which houses the ovular vestibular window and the circular cochlear window. The stapes is designed to snugly and neatly fit into the vestibular window. Two distinctive sacs that are designed to discern motion and linear movement (the utricle and the saccule) can be located in the membranous labyrinth within the vestibule. The larger utricle can be found in the back of the vestibule. Each sac is firmly connected to the other, creating a symbiotic relationship.
