The depression in the skull that the eye fits into neatly is called the orbit. The orbit is actually created by seven different bones. These include the ethmoid, lacrimal, frontal, sphenoid, zygomatic, maxilla, and palatine. These bones come together to form the depression that helps to shield the eyeball from harm.

The Eyebrows

Just along the superior orbital ridges, a firm line of short thick hairs create the arch known as the eyebrow. The eyebrow offer the eyeball protection from the sun, and it helps to keep perspiration and other solutions from dripping down the forehead and into the eye. The eyebrows are able to move reflexively in order to extend additional protection to the eyeball, thank to the orbicularis oculi muscle with help from the corrugator supercilli muscle. The space of skin between the eyebrow and the eyelid is known as the orbital section.
